How to add an emoji to your Discord server
- Drop your picture or GIF into the box above.
- Turn on Trim empty edges and check the preview on the dark and light backgrounds.

- In Discord, open Server Settings, then Emoji, click Upload Emoji and pick the file.
Common questions
What size should a Discord emoji be?
- 128 × 128 pixels, square, and under 256 KB. Discord shrinks it in chat, but starting at 128 keeps it sharp.
Why does Discord say my GIF can't be resized?
- Discord can't shrink big GIFs itself, so it rejects them. This tool resizes every frame and steps the size down until the file is under 256 KB.
Can I upload animated emoji without Nitro?
- Any server can add animated emoji, within its emoji slots. Members need Nitro to use them in other servers.
How many emoji can a server have?
- Every server starts with 50 static and 50 animated emoji slots, and boosting the server adds more.
Are my images uploaded anywhere?
- No. The resizing happens in your browser, so your files never leave your device.
